06/12/2023 - National Showcase - Orange County, CA SSawyer is an athletic OF who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with excellent power potential through a squared, athletic setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) generating bat speed to and through a short / direct / level swing path, creating extension. Barrel accuracy is a plus with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind ball and plays through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate with carry (83 mph velocity) to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness (7.38 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Sawyer has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
