Sawyer can field ground balls more efficiently by working on his pocket awareness. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load and works to barrel up the baseball, using the entire field well. Getting into his load sooner can help Sawyer create more consistent contact. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, he showed a controlled/repeatable delivery that allows his arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball showed range of 55-56 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 6 years to further develop, Sawyer has potential with time and room to progress his game.
