08/17/2008 - Under Armour All-America Game 2008 Drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 16th round of the 2009 MLB Draft. Currently plays for the Cincinnati Reds.

01/11/2008 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2008 Gennett was among the best at the event in terms of both pure ability and the ability to use his tools. He ran 6.67 in the 60-yard dash and showed in the range of a near average Major League arm. His glove was better than his arm, thanks to crisp actions, good lateral quickness and soft hands. He showed ability to play on both sides of the bag, and seemed to have a good feel for both positions. At the plate, he showed a compact line drive stroke with quick hands and good overall bat speed. He had a knack for finding the good part of the barrel, and showed both pitch recognition and plate discipline skills. While he showed a very good set of tools in the workouts, he impressed more with his ability to put them into play during games. To simply tag him as a "baseball player" may imply a lack of tools, which would certainly be untrue. He is a "baseball player" with loads of pure ability.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
