01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Scott continues to show improvements in his abilities on the mound and has a promising future. On the bump, he displays a sound / repeatable delivery, working in line and on time allowing his arm to work loose / free to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 86 mph. Breaking ball is outstanding, displaying 12/6 shape with late / sharp break. Control is tremendous as he attacks hitters, working to get ahead, and threw strikes with all his pitches. He shows good composure and competes on the mound. Scott has a big upside on the mound and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his abilities.

06/29/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Scott continues to show a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, this righty has a 3 pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. FB jumps out of his hand and shows some sinking action - 83 mph. Changeup is solid as he throws it with smooth FB arm speed - helping to create deception. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He works tall and drives downhill, repeating well. At the plate - he has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He takes an absolute hack - crushing the ball to all gaps. At 3B, he has plus lateral range for a big guy, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws zipping across the diamond. Scott has the tools that will play at a very high level and make an immediate impact.

09/30/2015 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Scott is a talented 2-way player who has worked hard and improved in several areas of his game. On the mound, this RHP has an effective 3-pitch mix that he pounds the zone with. Separation is smooth as he reaches back and fires, repeating well. Arm speed remains the same on all pitches, helping to create deception. FB cracks the mitt topping out at 84 mph while showing slight sink due to the 3/4 arm slot. Curveball has 11/5 shape with good action as he has trusts in it enough to throw it in any count. Changeup shows arm-side run complimenting his FB well. He works ahead in the count and challenges hitters. With the bat, Scott has an athletic setup with good balance and a strong base. He gets good hand separation, has good zone awareness waiting for a pitch he likes. Swing is quick through a level path as he connects with pop - the ball jumps off of his barrel to all parts of the field. At the event he went 4 for 7 with 3 singles, a triple and a walk. At 3B, Elgin works into a square fielding position and tracks the GB into his mitt. Backhand is smooth with a clean exchange to throw. Continuing to develop his footwork/agility will help to increase lateral range. Scott is a solid 2-way prospect who has a ton of upside and a bright future ahead of him.

12/20/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Scott is an athletic RHP/3B that displayed his abilities both on the mound and in the field. On the mound, he showed a two pitch mix with the ability to command the zone. He had good mound presence and a good arm action in his outings. His slider had gradual 10/4 movement. He fills up the zone and throws strikes with all pitches. At 3B, he displayed quick footwork and good lateral range. Exchange is clean and his throws were very accurate to 1B. He made the routine plays look easy fielding with soft hands. Offensively, Scott had quick hands, a quiet head, and athletic/balanced setup. Those qualities helped him make consistent/solid contact. Scott has a bright future in game as he continues to grow and develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
