01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Scott is a two way player in the 2018 class. On the mound he works with a consistent, repeatable delivery, keeps his eye down on his target and can command his entire arsenal. Beginning with a Fastball in the mid 80s with a lot of movement, he fills up the zone and attacks hitters. Has developed a Slider (72-75mph) to compliment his Curveball. Has a slightly different tilt but throws it for strikes and can mature into a decent out pitch. His Curveball still has a nice break into the strike zone and creates a lot of hitters to be off balance. Finally , mixes in a Splitter (73-74mph) to give hitters something else to think about. Defensively, Scott works in the Outfield well. Fields the ball out in front, takes proper angles and is sure handed. At the plate, Scott stays very balanced, does a nice job of hitting off-speed pitches because his head stays as still as possible. Projects nicely due to his versatility but we see a nice future on the mound for Scott.

10/11/2017 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Scott continues to show the makings of a special type player at the next level. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 85-87 mph with tailing action. He maintains arm speed on his split finger, showing a feel for pitch with tailing action and shows as an outstanding pitch. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with early break. He maintains good composure and competes on the bump. In the OF, actions are smooth, clean, and quick. He reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. Range is a plus as he covers a lot of ground. He works behind the baseball and plays through with momentum to his target. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with tremendous arm strength (90 mph velocity) with throws showing life and on line carry. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/26/2017 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Scott is a highly talented LHP/OF prospect who has an athletic, projectable build and graduates in 2018. On the mound, Scott competes with an overpowering fastball at 85-90 MPH. He has balanced, on-time mechanics throwing from a 3/4 arm slot with a quick arm action. He extends through his release and stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. He pivots off his back foot and gets good rotation with his core towards his target. He commands his curveball with sharp break and is developing his changeup. As a left-handed hitter, Scott has a tall stance with his weight in the front of his setup. He has a good load with a square stride as his lower half leads his swing. Scott shows fast bat speed with a long swing path. He gets good rotation with his hips and finishes high. Scott is a contact type hitter who shows power to the pull side. In the field, Scott plays with effective footwork and good body control. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a square position. Scott has a clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through the baseball showing consistently strong throws. Overall, Scott has a versatile skill set with above average talent that is certain to make him an impact player at the next level.

06/03/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Scott continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond, especially on the mound where he projects best. On the bump, he had a solid showing at the event. He attacks hitters, throwing a lot of strikes as he works to get ahead of hitters through a quick tempo. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 87 mph. Fastball showed range of 85-87mph on a downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. In the OF, he utilizes his quick feet well in tracking down balls, covering a lot of ground. At the plate, this LHH loads well and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with plus barrel accuracy. Scott has a big upside on the bump and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Scott gets it done on the mound and at the dish, with the solid build to hold up over a long season no matter where he plays. He shows a true 3 pitch mix, working off his mid 80's FB with run, with a sharp 1-7 breaking ball and an improving changeup. His delivery is clean and repeatable as he throws strikes and gets extension towards the plate to add some deception. He makes every plays asked of him in the outfield with range and soft hands to field cleanly. His arm fits the position and he always makes strong accurate throws back to the infield. At the dish, he takes an absolute hack, looking to do damage with every swing. His bat is lightening quick through the zone and his swing is smooth to make square contact and show pull pop. Scott has the skills needed to play at the next level.

10/19/2016 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Scott continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a solid runner at 7.30. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. He works behind the baseball and plays through with momentum to his target and gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he shows a crouched setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. On the mound, Fastball showed a range of 80-83 mph with good arm side run. Breaking ball displaying 1/7 shape with sharp / late break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters, throwing strikes with all his pitches. He maintains good composure and competes on the bump. With 2 years to further develop, Scott has a big upside on the bump and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

07/20/2016 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Scott is a very hard worker who leaves it all on the field. He is a very coachable player who makes adjustments quickly. With the bat, this lefty shows a balanced setup with good hand separation. He whips the barrel on a level path and generates good torque. The ball jumps off of his barrel when centered as he drives the ball on a line (exit velocity = 87 mph). In the OF, he takes a quick first step and hustles to track down fly-balls. Arm is strong with accuracy into his target. On the mound, Scott has an effective 3-pitch mix in which to challenge hitters. Separation is smooth and arm action is quick as he works the ball to both sides of the dish. He drives his lower 1/2 downhill off of the rubber. FB jumps out of his hand cracking the mitt at 86 mph while showing good movement (run). Breaking ball has sweeping (1/7 shape) like action. Working to stride more square while allowing his chest to get over his front side will allow for a more repeatable delivery with more consistency on his command. Scott is a gamer who has a bright future ahead of him in the game.

06/05/2016 - College PREP - Bakersfield, CA Scott is an athletic 2-way player as an OF/LHP. On the mound, he shows polished mechanics as he gathers over rubber, separates his hands on time, and stays square to his target. Arm is loose and free from a high 3/4 delivery. His chest works naturally down to his knee after release allowing for good extension and complete rotation to the catcher. FB touched 84 MPH with some cut and good command of the K-zone. His curveball was 66-70 MPH with late break and 2/8 action with a high frequency of strikes. Changeup shows slight cut and run. In the OF, he is active with his pre-pitch taking good routes to track down the ball. Scott maintains good rhythm through fielding the ball assisting in fluid actions as he shows consistent accuracy through his target. At the plate, this LHH shows in stance rhythm with a good feel for load and separation. He barrels the ball up hitting it where it's pitched and drives it to all parts of the field. Scott is a 2018 L/L graduate with two full seasons to continue to get stronger - he has a ton of upside on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
