07/07/2014 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition Scott is a very nice kid who is coachable and works hard. Behind the plate he hustles, plays hard and has decent hands. Scott can improve by working on lateral quickness, blocking and long tossing to increase arm strength. On the mound he uses the front side well, separation is on time and he throws strikes. He needs to get his chest out over the front leg, use legs more and develop secondary pitches. At the plate Scott is direct to the ball, uses the field well and he delivers the barrel. He needs to stride at the pitcher, get the lower half through and drive through the ball.

03/16/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Bowie, MD Scott is a young, 2-way player who catches and pitches. Behind the plate, Scott presents his glove well, he holds a good target, and his footwork is average. He has some body control, tries to block, and he throws with a good arm action to 2nd base. On the mound, Scott has good direction, he keeps his eyes on target, and his arm action is free and fluid. At the plate, Scott has good balance, a square set-up, and he attacks the middle of the field. He repeats his swing well and flashes good barrel accuracy. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Catching
1. Lower target
2. Quicken exchange
3. Long toss
Pitching
1. Finish
2. More lower body
3. Finish
Offense
1. Loosen grip
2. Avoid wrapping bat

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
