Official Scouting Report

  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2012 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Vero Beach Sean is an athletic player who showed the ability to play multiple positions. At SS, Sean continued to show fluid actions with sure hands and the ability to keep the ball in front. He can continue to focus on his fielding position making sure his hands are out in front and his body low. As Sean gets older he will need to be aware of his positioning in the field making sure he is adjusting based off the situation in the game. Focus on improving lateral movements, and agility drills will help with quickness. On the mound, Sean showed good arm side run on his fastball with the ability to locate. His separation is on time with a controlled balance point and this time around he showed the ability to keep his eyes on his target. Pitching grades will improve as he works on getting better extension on his pitches (Towel Drill) making sure his is working in line with his target completing his delivery. Offensively, Sean is a line drive/contact hitter who looks loose and confortable in the box. His lower half gets through well and showed a level swing path. Sean can focus on making sure his stride is square and that his weight stays centered throughout his swing. Overall, Sean is a great kid who plays hard and has the willingness to listen and learn.

08/05/2012 - Interactive Video Program - Charlotte, NC Sean is a young 2-way player who plays SS and pitches. At SS, Sean has sure hands, fluid / active feet, and he fields in a low / square position. He has a clean exchange, and throws with a short arm with accuracy to his target. On the mound, Sean has a short arm action, on-time separation, and he gets good extension on his pitches. He has level shoulders, good direction toward home, and he finishes athletically. He also has an above average knuckleball for his age that shows good movement and change in speed. At the plate, Sean has a still head, on-time rhythm, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. He has a good swing path and makes consistent contact. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Avoid glove pat
2. Long toss
Pitching
1. Eyes on target
2. Develop a change up
Offense
1. Higher hands
2. Level off swing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
