Official Scouting Report

  • 6Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

12/20/2021 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Sean is a 3B/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during the Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Sean gets into an athletic position and fields with a firm glove. He gains ground well on his throws and works to keep them accurate to his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Sean make more plays. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He gets his hands activated in his load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a level swing and produces solid line drives. Sean can create more consistent contact by working a smoother rhythm into his load. On the mound, Sean gathers over the rubber and works inline toward the plate. He operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph. Breaking ball sits from 58-61mph with 11-5 break. Extending through his release can help Sean improve his pitch command and velocity. Overall, Sean is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

02/15/2021 - All-In Membership - Gambrills, MD Sean is a lean 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2022. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and utilizes his quick feet (7.19 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a level swing path with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 70-74 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Sean has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
