Official Scouting Report

02/10/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Martinez, CA Sean is a lean RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Sean gathers over the rubber and works with a clean arm. He finishes square to the plate and keeps his pitches around the zone. Sean shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 65mph. Breaking ball shows solid movement. Changeup sits at 59mph. Striding square towards the plate can help Sean improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets into his load well and drives the ball to all fields. Sean can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. With two more years to develop, Sean has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/09/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Pleasant Hill , CA Sean is a 2B/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the field, Sean makes the routine plays and works to make accurate throws to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Sean improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives the ball to all fields. Sean can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter swing to the ball. On the mound, Sean gathers over the rubber and finishes square to the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 65mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 53-58mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 55-57mph. Loosening his arm action can help Sean improve as a pitcher. Overall, Sean is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Sean is a young, projectable two-way player who is very passionate about the game and shows great work ethic. He has really improved his skills at the plate, making more consistent hard contact with a good path to the ball. He has a quiet setup and shows simple actions to stay within himself at the plate and make solid contact. His lower half generates bat speed and pop as he works on a direct, level path to the ball. At second, he stays in front of everything, fielding the ball centered in his body. His hands are firm and presented to field as he dictates the hop to make clean plays. On the mound, he works in line to the plate with his fastball, curveball mix. He shows good composure and is able to work through jams with feel for pitching. Staying in line to the plate will free his arm action and result in more velocity. Sean is an interesting, young prospect we will be keeping an eye on.

10/29/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Santa Rosa, CA Sean is an athletic 2021 RHP/ 2B prospect. At 2B, Sean has active pre pitch movement, presents a low/early glove, and makes accurate throws to first. At the plate, Sean has an athletic stance and makes consistent hard contact on the ball. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and using his lower half will allow him to continue to have a middle approach at the plate. On the bump, Sean stays tall/ balanced on his backside, rotates his back hip, and has clean arm action on his delivery. Developing his secondary pitches will elevate his game to the next level. Sean continues to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/03/2017 - College PREP - San Francisco, CA Sean is a lean 2B/RHP who will graduate in 2021. At 2B, he displays clean actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper angles but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Glove action is soft but will benefit by presenting more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 55-60 mph. He slows his arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Sean has abilities with a lot of room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
