05/08/2016 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Sean continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He improved his pop times behind the dish as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.35. Hands / feet work well together through a quick / clean transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Receiving / blocking skills will continue to improve as he develops and get more reps. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and shows a solid feel for the barrel. He loads well, utilizes his lower half well with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, flashing pop in his bat.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Sean is a coachable player who worked very hard on his skills during his time in Pirate City. He is willing to make adjustments to be the best player he can be. Behind the plate, feet are active, working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange. Continuing to build more arm strength (long toss) will aid in lower pop times. Receiving / blocking skills show as playable tools as he continues to develop and get more reps. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup and he tracks ball well. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, showing good barrel accuracy. He was 2 for 6 at the event with a 3B. Sean has a good feel for the game and plays with a lot of energy.

11/01/2015 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Sean is a R/R backstop who is approaching his junior season. Behind the dish, he sits in well and sticks pitches in the zone with a firm wrist. He works hard laterally with quick footwork and tries to body up pitches in the dirt. Exchange is clean as he works in-line toward 2B - pop times of 2.35. Gaining more ground and quickening his exchange will help to lower pop times. With the bat, Sean shows a square setup with patience as he waits for his pitch. Swing is level as he connects and drives through the ball at contact. Striding more square will help to hit against a firm front side and engage his lower 1/2 - resulting in more power. A 2017 grad - Sean has tools with still time to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
