11/12/2016 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 14-18) Sean continued to show his skills as a hitter at the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. Sean sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time to meet the ball. He is fluid getting back into his load He comes through the zone well with his lower half which produces consistant contact and solid line drives. Sean can improve as a hitter by loosening his grip on the bat. Overall, Sean is a solid hitter who shows the potential to further develop his skills.

10/16/2016 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Sean showed as a catcher and at 3B for the first time at the event. He continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.37. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as playable tools as he continues to develop and get more reps. At 3B, feet are active as he works to square balls up. He shows good pre pitch and makes the routine play. Glove action is soft but will benefit by presenting more out front. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power numbers will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

10/01/2016 - Pitching & Catching Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 14-18) Sean continued to show his skills behind the plate at the Accelerated Training Weekend. Sean shows quick feet behind the plate and he sits in an athletic position to receive the ball with soft hands. Sean can improve as a catcher by presenting his hands earlier to receive the ball and by raising his arm slot and stay low when moving to throw. Overall, Sean is a solid catcher who has the potential to further develop his skills.

07/23/2016 - Factory Development Institute National Select Program Sean is a hard working player with a great personality. He asks questions and brings it to the field every day, wanting to get better. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.50 range with accuracy on his throws. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer and exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Receiving and blocking skills show as quality tools as he continues to develop and get more reps. He is a vocal leader on the field and shows a solid feel for the game. At the plate, he shows a squared, athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach, mainly to the pull side. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. At the event, he was 1 for 3. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. Mental makeup is outstanding as he has a positive attitude, is very coachable and is a great team player. Sean has abilities with time and room to continue to improve.

05/15/2016 - College PREP - Bowie, MD Sean is R/R catcher with a projectable frame (5'11"/165lbs) and continues to improve his pop times. Behind the plate, he gains ground and shows a clean transfer - leading to pop times of 2.48. Working on a a proper long toss program will help Sean to strengthen his arm resulting in lower pop times. This right handed hitter in the box stays square with lower 1/2, stays inside and works to hit ball where its pitched. Developing a lower 1/2 trigger with his back leg will assist with quicker hips developing more bat speed. Mason (2018 grad) is a few adjustments away from unlocking his potential.

09/27/2015 - College PREP - Bowie, MD Sean is a RHH backstop who has a projectable build (5'11"/165). Defensively behind the dish, he sits in well with athletic actions and flexion. He works quickly laterally and bodies up pitches in the dirt. Throws down to 2B are accurate coming from a clean transfer/exchange as he gains ground toward his target (pop times of 2.69). Quickening his release will help to lower pop times. As a hitter - Sean shows a square setup with centered balance. He waits for hit pitch, swings on a level path and connects, driving the middle of the field. Getting back into a loaded position sooner and utilizing more of his lower 1/2 throughout the swing will result in increased pop. Only a 2018 grad - Sean has skills with still time to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
