Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2020 - All-In Membership - Windsor (Madison), WI Sean continues to progress nicely on the diamond. At the plate, power potential is well above average through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. The ball jumps when centered (exit velocity = 85 mph). At 3B, he has active prep working into a square/athletic fielding position. He takes good angles, works through the ball and has a clean transfer to throw. On the mound, he pounds the zone and throws strikes with all 3 pitches. He drives downhill with a strong lower 1/2 and stays directional. FB tops out at 77 mph with good command. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with some late bite. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed and compliments his FB well. Reilly is a solid 2-way prospect who will make an impact in a variety of ways on the diamond.

08/26/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Glendale (Milwaukee), WI Sean showed very well at the plate and at 3B during his last workout with The Factory. Defensively, Sean has good pre-pitch actions, active feet, and he takes proper angles to the ball. He keeps it in front, fields cleanly, and throws with a smooth exchange with accuracy to his target. On the mound, Sean stands over the rubber well balanced, he separates on time, and has a loose arm circle. He uses his lower body and is around the zone with his pitches. At the plate, Sean is a strong hitter with a square set-up, a proper load, and good balance. He has a still head, a direct barrel through the ball, and he has pull side pop in his bat. Sean can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Quickness
2. Earlier glove
3. Play lower
Pitching
1. Avoid falling off
2. Off-speed
3. Glove tuck
Offense
1. Let ball travel
2. Lower body

08/27/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Glendale (Milwaukee), WI Sean is a 3B/RHP who can swing the bat. Defensively at 3B, he takes a prep step and works into a square fielding position on GB's. He comes up with a clean exchange and fires throws with a strong arm. On the mound, this RHP gathers over the rubber with a 3-pitch arsenal. He delivers a FB (66-68mhp) with late movement and a CB with an 11-5 break. With the bat, Sean has smooth rhythm to load with quiet actions. He swings on a direct path through the zone and consistently drives pitches on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Quicker footwork
2. Develop soft hands
3. Be more aggressive to GB
Pitching
1. Deliver more strikes
2. Develop off speed
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Improve bat speed
2. Lower 1/2 drive
3. Let ball travel

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
