12/27/2020 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Sebastian continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate he shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with soft glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well. Pop times showed in the 2.10 range with accuracy / carry (87 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, hitting abilities are outstanding with excellent power potential through a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are quick (85 mph velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel. At the event, he was 5 for 7 with 2 3B. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and has great knowledge of the game.

06/27/2020 - All-In Membership - Chattanooga, TN Sebastian is a solid, athletic catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times showed in 2.10 range with accuracy and carry (84 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, continues to shine through an athletic, crouched setup. He is aggressive as he attacks balls through a level swing path. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. With 2 years to further develop, Sebastian has an upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
