09/23/2018 - College PREP - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Sebastian improved his abilities on the bump and has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 79 mph. Fastball shows heavy action with slight tail. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Knuckleball displays good tumbling, downward action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the MIF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works through balls with his body. Glove action is clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and aggressive as he attacks balls in the zone. Swing path is level and he shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
