01/20/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Omaha, NE Sebastian is an OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the OF, Sebastian shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. Staying low when moving to throw can help Sebastian improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a crouched stance and takes a short stride. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, spraying the ball to all fields. Sebastian can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. Overall, Sebastian is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

08/04/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Sebastian continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive grade has improved as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.4 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. He shows a squared setup and sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic, squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side.

11/16/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Sebastian is a lean catcher who will graduate in 2023. At the plate is where he shows best through a crouched setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive approach. He makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 3.45 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and he works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft and he sticks in the zone but needs to present a lower target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down quicker. With 6 years to further develop, Sebastian has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
