Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • RHP/2BPosition Projection

06/14/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 14-18) Sebastian is an RHP/2B that will graduate in 2020. At second base Sebastian shows active feet with agile range. He fields the ball low and athletically presenting his hands softly out front of his body. He creates momentum with a clean arm action and makes accurate throws with + DP feeds. At the plate Sebastian sets up in a slightly open stance. He keeps a small load working to get on time with the pitch. His core rotates well and sprays the ball with a middle approach. On the mound Sebastian shows a good presence and body language. He shows a 3-pitch mix with a FB/CB/CH. The CB shows as the better OS pitch with sharp 11-5 break. With strength and agility training, and long toss should help Sebastian's overall athleticism. With this work and Sebastian's good baseball IQ should help him continue to grow as a baseball player.

03/17/2019 - College PREP - San Francisco, CA Sebastian is a lean RHP/2B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate he continues to shine through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 70-74 mph on a downhill plane with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Sebastian has potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
