Official Scouting Report

  • OF/3BPosition Projection

06/20/2009 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2 Seth has really improved his foot speed by cutting 4 tenths off his 60 time, now a near above average runner as indicated by his 7.18 60 time. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in taking proper routes and angles in tracking down fly balls, improving his defensive abilities now showing solid average abilities. Arm strength is solid average and he will benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength with carry on throws. At the plate, hitting abilities are solid average through an aggressive approach. He maintains balance and works to keep hands inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will increase as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. He makes adjustments with 2 strikes and will put the ball in play. He was 3 for 5 at the event with 2 BB.

12/27/2008 - Under Armour Recruiting Classic 2008 Seth continues to show steady improvement in his baseball abilities showing at 3B and in the outfield. He still does project better in the OF where he has improved defensive abilities, now at solid average. He plays through ground balls well and runs down fly balls well. He does need to take better routes and angles in working to get behind fly balls more to play through with momentum to target. Arm strength is slightly improved and does need to stay on a strict long toss program to aid in developing more arm strength. Raising arm slot will also aid in providing more carry and accuracy on throws. In the infield, he is more suited for 1B at the next level with average defensive abilities. At the plate, Aamatti keeps hands inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. He loads well and shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach. He was 3 for 11 at the event. Seth plays hard with aggressive actions and is very coachable, willing to make adjustments. As he continues to develop, he will be a solid player.

11/16/2008 - College PREP - Monmouth, OR Seth is a young two way player at 3B and in the OF with a tall, muscular looking body that does show projection as it continues to physically mature. Currently, he does project a little better in the outfield where defensive ability is slightly better. Foot speed is near average and he does need to get on a speed / agility program to improve quickness. His feet are active and he takes proper routes and angles in tracking balls in the outfield. He does need to work to get behind more to play through with momentum to target. In the infield, he plays low and shows good pre pitch set up. Glove action is deep due to feet stopping as he breaks down to field baseball. As he learns to play through ground balls it will aid in presenting the glove more out front. Arm strength is slightly average through a quick transfer into release. He does need to get on a strict long toss program to aid in building more arm strength. At the plate, Aamatti has solid average ability and power. He flashes bat speed through a line drive type stroke. Set up is quiet and maintains a strong base with balance. He keeps hands inside the baseball and will spray balls to all fields. Power numbers will increase as he learns to keep the barrel through the baseball more at contact. Seth has a lot of potential with time and room to continue to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
