10/09/2019 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Seth continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. Runners will not want to test his arm (86 mph) with impressive pop times of 1.98. Offensively, he continues to shine through an open setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (91 mph exit velocity) with the ball screaming off of his barrel. At the event, he was 2 for 7 with a 3B. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 81 mph. Fastball showed good arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

08/04/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Seth continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a tremendous runner at 6.85. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 1.90 with accuracy and zip (88 mph velocity) on his throws. He shows a squared setup and receives the ball well. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as an outstanding tools at the next level. At the plate, power potential is now outstanding through an athletic, open setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 80 mph. Fastball shows good cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/21/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Omaha, NE Seth continues to shine on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active and he gains ground in working in line to his target. Pop times showed in the 2.09 range with accuracy and zip (85 mph velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup with a soft glove that sticks ball in the zone. Blocking skills are solid as he utilizes his body well in centering balls out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the baseball, utilizing all fields, and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop.

08/05/2018 - College PREP - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Seth showed as a catcher for the first time at the event. Behind the plate, feet are quick in gaining ground through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.07 range with accuracy and zip (84 mph velocity) on his throws. He shows a solid setup and sticks balls well in the zone and utilizes his body well through the blocking process and is a wall behind the plate. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Seth has the tools to play at the next level and will make some school a special type player.

06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Seth continues to show steady progress on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He works around balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength and sprays the ball to all fields. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 74-76 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with sinking action. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

01/15/2018 - College PREP - Omaha, NE Seth is an athletic 2020 RHP/3B prospect. At the hot corner, Seth has an active prep step, and creates good angles to the ball. He presents a low/early glove and plays through the backhand. At the plate, Seth starts in an open stance, and loads his hands back into the drive position. He uses the lower half and stays balanced through contact. On the bump, Seth gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and attacks the bottom half of the strike zone. Seth will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
