Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OFPosition Projection

07/13/2012 - 2012 Team One South Showcase Cunningham continues to show as an outstanding defensive OF. Feet are quick / athletic as he reads balls well off the bat and takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls in the OF. Actions are smooth, loose and easy and he gets rid of the baseball quickly with life, accuracy, and on line carry on his throws. At the plate, Seth continues to show as a switch hitter but is much better from the right side. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a short / direct path from the right side. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side as LHH as he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball exploding off his bat when centered.

03/04/2012 - College PREP - Greenville, SC Seth is a tall, athletic OF/LHP that will graduate in 2014. Currently, he projects best in the OF where he has a bright future. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 6.85 60 time. Feet are quick / aggressive as he reads balls well off the bat in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls in the OF. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Throws display life, accuracy, and on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, Cunningham is a switch hitter with abilities from both sides but his slightly better from the right side. He shows an athletic setup with quick hands that generate bat speed. Barrel accuracy is a plus through a line drive type path. He needs to work on keeping hands inside the ball to utilize all fields and continue to improve hitting grades. Power numbers will increase as he keeps the barrel through the ball at contact and adds more muscle strength. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 78-79 mph with slight arm side run. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed showing a solid feel for his changeup with arm side run. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will rise as more arm strength is developed. With 2 years to further develop, Seth has the makings to be a special type player as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
