06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Shane continues to shine on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.29 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach.

12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Seth is an athletic catching prospect that has a high baseball IQ behind the dish and on the base paths. Behind the dish, Seth is a leader and calls a good game. He starts in a quiet primary stance, he presents a low target, and works behind the ball when receiving. When blocking, he leads with his glove and creates a good angle over the ball. Anticipating balls in the dirt and improving hip mobility will improve his blocking skills. When throwing, Seth has a clean exchange and replaces his feet. Working into the ball, gaining ground, and keeping his shoulder squared to his target will improve his accuracy. Following a long toss program to build arm strength will improve his overall ability to throw. At the plate, Seth starts in a tall stance and loads his hands back. He needs to create separation and load his hands back into the drive position. He rotates his lower half but attacking the inside part of the ball will allow him to have a more direct swing path. Seth will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/19/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Salt Lake City, UT Seth continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Receiving / blocking skills show as tremendous tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times showed in 2.38 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves his foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and aggressive as he attacks balls through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

07/31/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Seth continues to shine on the diamond with his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he continues to show best through a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.30 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. Fastball showed a range of 69-70 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to throw more strikes.

05/25/2019 - College PREP - Salt Lake City, UT Seth is a lean, athletic C/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a quick transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.20-2.40 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He sticks balls well in the zone, displaying soft glove and sticking balls well in the zone. He utilizes his body well and creates good angles through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting with solid power potential through a crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 68-70 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Seth has potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
