12/20/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Howard is a hardworking and very coachable player who has improved some in some areas of his game during his time at Pirate City. At the plate, hands are quick, generating bat speed through an aggressive approach. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball exploding off of his bat with power (exit velocity = 91 mph), displaying gap to gap pop. At the event, he was 3 for 6 (with 3 singles and 3 walks). Pop times continue to show in the low 2.10 range as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with life and carry through his target. He shows off his athletic abilities through his receiving / blocking tools. Howard will be a fun player to watch and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his tools on the diamond.

07/13/2015 - College PREP - Carrollton (DFW), TX Seth is a R/R 2-way player as a C/SS. He has foot speed proven by his 6.79 60 yard dash. Behind the plate, Seth sits in well and presents a low target. Quick footwork allows him to get laterally around pitches in the dirt, centering them off of his chest. He works in-line toward 2B on throws down with pop times of 2.11. At SS, he shows good prep and works around the GB. He makes the backhand play smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. Playing through the ball more and gaining ground toward 1B will aid in his progress in the MIF. With the bat, this RHH shows a slightly open stance with a good load. He connects with pop and hits the ball where it's pitched, using the whole field. Increased power will come with more lower 1/2 drive. This 2016 grad has tools and should find success on the diamond as he approaches his senior year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
