Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

10/09/2013 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Seth continues to show as a RHP/OF, projecting best on the mound for the next level where he has an upside. Delivery is outstanding, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he topped out at 84 mph. Fastball showed a range of 83-84 mph with arm side run on a strong downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin and gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with sinking action. Off speed pitches are well above average and will get outs at the next level. Command / control are outstanding as well as he throws strikes with all his pitches to both sides of the plate and changes speeds well. He had 4 quality innings at the event. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.10 60 time. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid average as he utilizes his quick feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat, takes proper first steps but needs to work to get behind balls more, play through with momentum to his target to continue to improve. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he learns to keep his hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and is a hard worker.

08/11/2013 - College PREP - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Seth is an athletic RHP who pounds the zone. FB tops out at 82 mph as he drives off of the rubber and works downhill. He shows good command with all of his pitches and works all sides of the plate. CB is nasty, showing 11/5 shape and late break. CH is best off-speed and shows sink. Seth gets good extension out over his front side and finishes in an athletic position. Kinel has good stuff on the bump and will have success this upcoming season.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
