Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

06/23/2011 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2 Seth showed improvements in his game both in the INF and on the mound in Omaha. He raised his velocity from 81 to 84 MPH and showed a solid defensive set-up and quick / fluid footwork. Seth works around the ball well, he keeps it in front, and has a clean exchange. He follows his throws to his target, and has life and carry on the ball. On the mound, Seth has very good arm speed, good front side action, and he gathers himself well at his balance point. He works in good tempo, throws on a downhill plane, and he pounds the bottom of the strike zone. At the plate, Seth has a balanced approach, quick hands, and tracks the ball well. Seth has a good idea at the plate; he makes consistent / square contact, and makes good use of his lower 1/2.

12/27/2010 - Christmas Camp and Tournament 2010 - Session 2 Seth is a two-way player on the mound plus at 3B with an athletic body that is well suited for his positions. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.37 60 time. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in working around and playing through the baseball with his body. Hands are soft, clean, and sure displaying a plus glove action as he makes all the plays. Arm strength is a plus displaying life, carry, and accuracy across the diamond. Offensively, Lieser shows an aggressive approach as he attacks the baseball with his hands. Bat speed is present to and through the ball at contact and he displays strength in his swing with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to stay back and transfer weight properly through his lower half. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 78-81 mph with late arm side run on a strong downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with loose spin and early break. Changeup shows average feel for with fading action. He attacks hitters, throwing strikes with all his pitches. Seth is very coachable with a lot of potential, possibly as a two way player. He plays hard and has a strong understanding of the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
