Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/OFPosition Projection

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Seth is a coachable 3B/OF prospect who continued to showcase his skills at the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Seth gets into a square position and makes the routine play. He makes a clean exchange and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Seth can improve defensively by increasing his lateral agility. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load and leads well with his lower half. He gets good extension through his swing with decent bat speed which leads to square contact to all fields. Seth can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. With four more years to develop, Seth has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/03/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Sacramento, CA Seth is a tall, lean 3B/OF. Defensively at 3B, he takes active routes/angles to the GB and works into a square fielding position. He comes up with a clean exchange and makes on-line throws to his target. In the OF, he hustles hard laterally as he tracks down hard-hit fly balls. He tries to work behind the fly ball and will gun out runners with his strong arm. As a hitter, Seth hits from both sides of the plate with an athletic setup. He has a strong lower 1/2 as he swings on-plane through the zone and looks to drive pitches back up through the middle of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Lateral range
2. Develop soft hands
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Outfield
1. Quick 1st step
2. Work behind on fly balls
3. Play through
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Improve bat speed
3. Level out swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
