12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Seth showed at 1B for the first time at the event and continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will continue to increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a compact swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. He has strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

10/19/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Salt Lake City, UT Seth showed in the OF and at 2B for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At 2B, feet are active as he work to square balls up but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side.

09/15/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Boise, ID Seth is an athletic and talented 2021 1B prospect. At 1B, Seth is on time with his prep step, he works off the bag well, and presents a low/early glove. He plays through the ball and makes accurate throws on double plays. He has a good first step to the ball and has range on both sides of the glove. At the plate, Seth starts in a crouched stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and rotates his back hip into the ball. He attacks the inside part of the ball, he gets to balance, and keeps his head down at contact. Seth is a line drive hitter and shows the ability to hit the ball to the middle part of the field. Seth will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Seth is tall, lean RHP/1B who will graduate in 2021. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls through a low approach. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 59-60 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 3 years to further develop, Seth has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
