01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Shane continues to shine with improvements in his baseball abilities at the Pre-Season All American event. At the plate he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times showed in 2.15 range with accuracy / carry (82 mph velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/18/2022 - National Showcase - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Shane is an athletic C/3B in the 2023 class. Behind the plate he shows flexibility and energy. He has effective feet and presents a square frame and target. Moves well with the pitch and maintains the strike zone. His exchanges are clean and can get the ball in the air quickly (2.18 pop). Arm slot can be shorter and higher for improved accuracy and depth on his throws. In the field, he has solid pre-pitch movements and is an aggressive fielder. He works well through the baseball and separates in the middle of his body. Feeds are accurate and on-line to his targets. At the plate, he swings with intent and attacks the ball in the zone. He has a quiet head and proves to be a contact type hitter. Overall, Shane is a solid player who can make a fine addition to a college roster.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
