03/20/2016 - College PREP - Redwood City (San Francisco/San Jose), CA Shane is a talented 2-way prospect (OF/RHP) who has a athletic build (5'11"/175). In the OF, he takes a quick first step with solid angles tracking down fly-balls with speed. He works into position behind the ball and has a smooth transfer - firing strong/accurate throws into his target. As a hitter - Shane shows a balanced setup with fluid rhythm to load. He swings against a firm front side and whips the barrel quickly on a short/direct path, creating extension through contact. The ball explodes off of his bat as he sprays the entire field (exit velocity = 91 mph). On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a 3/4 arm slot. He works quickly and repeats his delivery well. FB ranges from 78-81 mph while showing some run. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape - 63-66 mph. Changeup shows slight run and will get in on the RHH's. Shane possess the tools that will translate well into the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
