12/13/2015 - College PREP - Thousand Oaks, CA Shane continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times have really improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 1.97. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with life, carry, and on line accuracy to his throws. He will control the running game with his throwing abilities. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At 3B, defensive grades have improved as well as he displays clean / fluid actions. Offensively, he shows an aggressive approach and lets the ball travel as he works to stay inside the ball. He shows good barrel accuracy with strength in his swing with power numbers improving as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. Shane has a ton of potential and is a player to follow.

10/07/2015 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Shane is a versatile athlete who can play multiple positions on the diamond. At 1B, he hustles into a square fielding position keeping the GB in front. He moves well around the bag and can go get it with a long stretch with the ability to pick the ball. In the OF, he tracks down fly-balls to his right and left with active footwork. He works into position behind the ball, secures it with 2-hands and has a clean exchange to throw. Offensively, this RHH steps into the box with a purpose. Barrel delivery is quick with authority as he connects with strength as the ball jumps off of his barrel (exit velocity = 86 mph). At the event, he collected 4 hits with 3 singles and a double. Shane is a hard worker who will find success in this his senior year.

09/13/2015 - College PREP - Fresno, CA Shane is a R/R (6'2"/215) backstop who can swing the bat. Offensively, this righty has a balanced setup, strong base and rhythm to load. Hands are quick as he whips the barrel on a level path and hits consistent line-drives. He hits the ball where it's pitched, utilizing the entire field. Behind the dish, Shane sits in well and presents a low target. He sticks pitches in the zone and frames well. Exchange is smooth and throws are accurate to the 2B bag with carry (pop times as low as 2.22). Shane has a solid all-around skill-set and should make an impact with the bat.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
