06/21/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Shane is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series. Behind the plate, Shane sits in a low position and presents a good target to the pitcher. He takes decent angles and works to block balls in the dirt. Shane can improve as a C by continuing to work on centering the ball when blocking and improving his footwork to throw. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He takes aggressive swings with a level bat path which leads to consistent contact to all fields. Shane can improve as a hitter by using his lower half more. Overall, Shane is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

04/30/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Charlottesville, VA Shane is a C/SS who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, feet are active as he tries to use his body to block. He has a clean exchange, works in line and makes accurate throws to his target. At SS, he shows loose actions and gets into a square fielding position. Hands are clean as he fires throws that carry to his target. With the bat, Shane displays a balanced setup. He drives his lower 1/2, swings on a direct bat path and drives pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Lateral range
2. Smooth backhand
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Catching
1. Develop soft hands
2. Stick pitches
3. Quicker to block and recover
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Improve bat speed/hands
3. Stay loose

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
