01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Shane is an athletic and talented 2020 3B prospect. At the hot corner, Shane is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and has a quick first step to the ball. He plays through the ball and has a clean exchange. He has good footwork and makes accurate throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Shane starts in a closed stance, he has good rhythm in his load, and he rotates his backside through contact. He attacks the inside part of the ball, he has fast hands, and he looks to drive he ball to all fields. Shane is a hard worker and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/03/2019 - Under Armour Firecracker Classic 18U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Shane continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future in the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.94 runner. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground, showing big play potential in the MIF. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line zip (88 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard with high energy.

02/18/2019 - College PREP - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Shane is a solid, athletic SS who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 60 time of 6.98. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying excellent hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At SS, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and carry (82 mph velocity) across the diamond. Shane has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
