09/19/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East Roberts featured pinpoint fastball command along with an advanced changeup and the ability to land his breaking ball. He pitched in the 86-88 range from both the windup and the stretch, and topped at 89. He was able to locate his fastball to both sides of the plate against both left- and right-handed hitters, and backed off on his 78-80 change with nearly the same command. His breaking ball was a 67-71 mph offering with 11-5 shape and medium depth, and was effective more based on his ability to use it than on the action alone. A former catcher, Roberts has shortish arm action from the glove, but rotates his chest through very well from there to extend and finish his pitches. He surrendered very few good swings, and offered hitters little in terms of comfort or predictability. He has among the most advanced feel for pitching in the 2017 class, along with a fastball that has climbed 5 mph on the top end in the last year.
