11/09/2008 - College PREP - Austin, TX Shane is a young SS/3B with a thick, strong looking body. Foot speed is near above average but does not utilize his quickness to fullest potential in the infield. Currently, he sits and waits on ground balls, causing glove action to be deep, allowing the baseball to dictate play. He needs to come get ground balls, playing through with his feet and hands, presenting down and out. He shows off his athletic ability on slow rollers. Arm strength is solid average showing carry and accuracy across the diamond. A strict long toss program will aid in developing more arm strength. At the plate, Segovia has slightly average ability with solid average power. Hands are quick and direct to the baseball, generating plus bat speed. He has power potential as the baseball jumps off his bat when centered. Swing path does get long at times, losing balls away. With 2 years to further develop, Shane has the makings to be a solid collegiate player with work.
