01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament This week in Arizona, Shane displayed the ability to be downhill to contact giving him the ability to consistently square up fastballs at the plate, but needs to create more separation in his load. On the mound, he has a loose arm action, he gets good separation, and he pitches to contact efficiently. His abilities on the mound should continue to develop as he learns to keep his eyes on his target throughout his delivery. With one more season of high school baseball remaining, Shane has the opportunity to showcase his skills and continue to develop his tools in preparation for the next level.

08/10/2011 - Pirate City World Series 2011 - Session 2 Shane continues to impress our scouts on the mound showing similar ability from his Team One workout. He continues to throw in the 82-87 mph range with some arm side run and command. He has good rhythm and tempo, good arm circle with extension to his target and he hides the ball well. He shows good command with his SL as well with tight rotation and 11-5 shape. His CH shows similar arm speed to his FB and is in the 74-76 mph range. Shane will continue to improve by trustng his CH more against advanced hitters and by staying in line with his lead foot to keep from falling off at times. Shane is a prospect on the mound right now and will be a player to watch in the years to come.

07/24/2011 - Team One Northeast 2011 Shane is a tall, athletic RHP who will graduate in 2012. On the mound, Shane has a compact delivery, a loose arm action, and sound mechanics. He works on a downhill plane, he repeats his delivery, and he works both sides of the plate. Shane attacks the zone with his FB, he keeps his eyes to his target, and his has control with all of his pitches. More lower 1/2 and added arm strength will continue to help mound effectiveness.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
