12/20/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Folkes is a 2016 OF that showed good instincts for the game at the Pirate City event. At the plate, Shannon worked through a soft and square stride while activating the hands properly in his load. There is balance throughout and timing is present with the actions that leads to a direct, loose swing path. Folkes is able to find the barrel consistently and will benefit from a strength and conditioning program to develop physically and increase the power numbers. Defensively, Folkes shows efficient footwork and good body control as he attacks with proper routes to the baseball. The exchange from catch to throw is clean and the arm plays accurately and will benefit from following throws more to add carry. Shannon will be looking to have a strong senior season following his performance at Pirate City.

12/06/2015 - College PREP - Pensacola, FL Shannon is a very athletic OF that showed advanced feel for the glove at his first workout with Baseball Factory. Defensively, he worked with efficient footwork and body control to make plays. He was on-time to field and had a sure glove, securing the ball while gaining momentum to throw to his targets. At the dish, he showed a contact approach with good balance and got good extension out in front. More consistent timing and more coordination of his hips with his hands will boost strength through contact and total hit ability. All in all - Shannon is prepping to have a solid senior season as he fine-tunes his skill for the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
