Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/1BPosition Projection

01/13/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Honolulu, HI Shaun showed good size and skills at both positions during his last workout with The Factory. In the OF, Shaun reads the ball well off the bat, he takes good angles, and makes the routine plays. He has a clean release and a long/accurate arm to his target. At 1B, Shaun has good pre-pitch actions, soft/presentable hands, and he fields in a low/athletic position. He fields aggressively and moves well around the bag. Offensively, Shaun has an athletic set-up, he swings in good rhythm, and flashes a good bat path to the ball. He has some bat speed for his age and hits with strength to the pull side.

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Shaun is an athletic and talented 2022 OF prospect that made several adjustments through the week at Pirate City. In the OF, he has an active prep step and is aggressive on ground balls. He has a clean exchange and creates momentum in his lower half when throwing the ball. Continuing to work on his first step to the ball will improve his route efficiency. At the plate, Shaun starts in a tall stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He has fluid rhythm in his load, hits off a firm front side, and keeps a quiet head. He needs to continue to be aggressive in fastball counts and keeping a middle approach. Shaun will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/20/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Shaun-Lee is an athletic, 2-way player who plays OF and 1st base. In the OF Shaun-Lee is aggressive to the ball, footwork is fluid, and hands are soft. He makes plays consistently, has a clean exchange, and throws with an accurate arm to his target. In the INF, Shaun-Lee attacks aggressively, he centers the ball well on his body, and he moves well around the bag. At the plate, Shaun-Lee has a square set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He gets good extension through the ball and uses his lower body. Shaun-Lee is a nice young player and can get better with work on the following.

Outfield
1. Agility
2. Long toss
Infield
1. Sure up hands
2. Accuracy
3. Fielding position
Offense
1. Lower body
2. Load
3. Barrel accuracy

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
