Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/2BPosition Projection

09/03/2021 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) Shaun is a class of 2023 SS/RHP. On the mound, he shows projectability and features long levers. Flashed two pitches with his best being a fastball that topped out at 71 MPH. Showed a soft breaking ball as well. In the infield, he showed clean exchanges. Did a good job working downhill. At the plate, he was short to the zone with his barrel and worked gap-to-gap. Showed off some strength and recorded a hit in game action. Shaun is a talented young player that we hope to see again.

07/02/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Wappinger Falls, NY Shaun is a SS prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. In the field, Shaun shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he makes on-line throws to his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Shaun field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a closed stance with center balance. He is smooth to load and works through a direct swing, driving the ball to his pull side. Shaun can generate more pop off the barrel by driving his lower half more. Overall, Shaun is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (HS) Shaun continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his to velocity to date at 68 mph. Fastball showed a range of 75-78 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Shaun is a lean, athletic built SS/RHP prospect who has talented skill set. Offensively, Shaun has a square stance with a centered balance. He keeps his head still and takes a short, square stride. Shaun has a direct swing path and stays balanced throughout his swing. He has an aggressive approach and the ability to spray the ball to all fields. In the field, Shaun covers good ground and fields the ball in a square position. He has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from an over the top arm slot. Shaun plays through the ball with momentum showing strong, accurate throws across the diamond. On the mound, Shaun has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from an over the top arm slot. He has a clean arm action and extends through his release. Shaun stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. He does a nice job rotating towards his target as he finishes. Overall, Shaun is a well-rounded prospect who has a bright future on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
