11/01/2019 - 2019 UA Best of the West Participant Good transition of weight, short compact swing, stays on plane, drives both gaps well, good backspin, plus bat speed through the zone

03/17/2019 - College PREP - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Shaun is a talented SS/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. As a right-handed hitter, Shaun has a crouched, athletic setup with a centered balance. He has fluid rhythm with a smooth load and short, square stride. His lower half leads his swing and he shows a fast, direct swing path. Shaun has a compact swing path and produces hard contact. He is a line drive type hitter who has the ability to drive the ball to each gap with power. In the field, Shaun plays with active footwork and effective pre-pitch actions. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a low, athletic position. Shaun has a clean exchange leading into a loose, long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with momentum through the baseball showing strong, accurate throws. On the mound, Shaun pitches with good rhythm and he repeats his delivery. He has balanced, on-time mechanics throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a clean arm action and extends through his release. Shaun stays square to home plate with the proper stride length. He does a nice job rotating towards his target as he finishes. Shaun has a medium breaking curveball and deceptive changeup with sink movement. Overall, Shaun has a well-rounded skill set and can make an impact at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
