01/13/2023 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (HS) Shawn Dozier Jr. is a 2024 SS/OF prospect. In the field, he gets in fielding position on time and exhibits good range. He can throw from multiple arm angles depending on the position he's playing but his arm is accurate with all. He can be a little stiff at times but his hands stay relaxed through fielding. At the plate he exhibits a good approach. He has a short stride that allows him to stay in a good rhythm. He has a nice on-plane swing. Developing a bunting game could give him an advantage at the plate, and he can utilize his speed more when he's on the base paths.

02/06/2022 - All-In Membership - Palmetto, FL Shawn is a lean and athletic SS/OF in the class of 2024. In the infield, he has active feet and gains ground to the baseball. Fields in a low athletic position. Works from the ground up and has a clean exchange. Gain a short and loose ¾ arm slot with a quick release. Throws are accurate and on-line to the target. Working on body positioning to the right of the baseball will allow him to stay directional to his target. In the outfield, he works well behind the baseball. Fields on the correct side of his body and his exchanges are clean. Following his throws will take strain off his arm and create further carry. At the plate, he tracks the baseball well for pull side power. Begins in a squared stance and is slightly closed at stride point. Working to stay on the balls of his feet will apply more balance to the swing. Overall, Shawn is just scratching the surface of big potential.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
