01/07/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (AZ) Sheldon is a 2022 1B/LHP who showcased his skills at the Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-American Tournament. On the mound, he showed ability to pitch inside and works ahead in count. He has a good mound presence and showed ability to change speeds. He gathers over the rubber and strides in-line towards the plate. He attacks hitters with a fastball that topped out at 78mph with plus command, a 1/7 shaped breaking ball with medium break, and a changeup with arm side run that he throws with FB arm speed. During the games, showed ability to pitch to contact and struck out 3 hitters. In the infield, he works to center the baseball and keeps the ball in front of him. He fields from an athletic/low fielding position. Made accurate/on-line throws to second base with an arm velocity up to 80mph. A left-handed hitter, he hits from a tall and even stance. Starts with smooth timing, with activated hands, and showed good plate discipline. He made square contact to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 79mph. In live game action, he had a single and walked 4 times. Sheldon is a solid 2-way prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field with further development.

09/16/2021 - Pathway AZ Upperclass - 18U Sheldon is a coachable LHP/1B prospect who showcased his skills during the Pathway tournament. On the mound, Sheldon gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and drives his lower half well, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Sheldon operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 82mph. Breaking ball sits from 57-59mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 68-72mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. In the field, Sheldon takes a good prep step and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making strong/accurate throws to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a soft stride. He gets his hands activated on time and remains centered in his lower half. He works through a level swing with fast bat speed, driving the ball to his pull side. Overall, Sheldon is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

08/24/2021 - All-In Membership - Redmond, WA Sheldon is a tall, lanky LHP/1B who is a prospect on the diamond. At 1B, defensive abilities are outstanding as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (83 mph velocity) At the plate he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 69-77 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with downward break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches. Sheldon has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
