06/07/2022 - All-In Membership - Midland, TX Sid is a C/RHP who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame lean build with strength present. At C, he showed athletic actions, with flexible hips, and has an easy sit. Has good glove actions, with good pocket awareness, and tracks ball to mitt. He replaces his feet as he gains ground to second base with good direction. Has a short/quick arm stroke, with a high 3/4 release point, and arm velocity up to 87mph and a best pop time of 2.25 seconds. He showed good blocking angles as he works to keep balls in front of him and is quick to his feet. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber, with a clean leg lift, and keeps eyes on target throughout delivery. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 75-78mph with plus command and a 11/5 shaped breaking ball that flashes tight spin. FB was best pitch during his bullpen session. At the plate, this switch hitter starts with a crouched and open stance. From the right side, he starts with a square glide step, with activated hands, and has a compact swing path. Gets good extension as he hit line drives into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 80mph. From the left side, he starts with a square glide step and keeps weight between his knees. Gets on-plane early as he squared up balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 78mph. He showed better from the right side during his rounds of BP. With another year of development, we foresee Sid making huge strides on the baseball field.

11/08/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Midland, TX Sid is a C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Sid shows fluid footwork and moves well laterally to block. He sits in a low stance and receives with soft hands. His exchange is quick and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them on-line to his target. Sitting in a more square stance can help Sid improve his overall catching ability. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He stays short through the ball with fast bat speed, producing consistent contact and line drives. Sid can be more controlled throughout his swing by developing a smoother load. Overall, Sid is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/10/2019 - College PREP - Midland, TX Sid is a young, 2-way player who catches and plays 2nd base. Behind the plate, Sid sticks the ball well, he centers properly, and his hands are firm. He keeps the ball in front when blocking, recovers quickly, and throws with accuracy and momentum to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.17 seconds. Quicker feet, a cleaner exchange, and added arm strength will help improve catching skills. In the INF, Sid has efficient footwork, he fields in a square position, and he makes the routine plays. He shows a solid backhand and throws with a loose arm action across the diamond. Abilities in the INF can improve with more range and a quicker release. At the plate, Sid has a square stance, a short stride, and he loads well. He has a compact/aggressive swing, he swings on plane, and he uses the middle of the field. A looser grip, work on timing, and tapping into more lower 1/2 will help hitting numbers spike.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
