Official Scouting Report

  • 1BPosition Projection

10/08/2014 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Sid showed well in his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. Defensively, he projects himself as a 1B'man with good footwork at and around the bag. He has the ability to maneuver his body to give good feeds on the DP. Working on slow rollers and his backhand will take his abilities to the next level. At the plate, he has an aggressive approach with tons of power. Recognizing pitches, getting his hands through on the inside pitch and keeping his shoulders level will only help his swing. Sid shows an advanced feel for hitting and by using all fields more he will impress college coaches all around the nation.

07/11/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One South Sid showed his plus pop offensively, in his most recent Baseball Factory showcase with Team One. At the dish, he had a strong approach, generated natural leverage, and was quick with barrel down to contact. He had excellent control of the barrel, centering contact and extending through the ball. Defensively, he showed as an OF with good ability to field the ball in front and throw with a clean arm stroke. He has some tuning up to do with the glove and arm slot, but his bat can play. All in all - at 6'1/230 lbs, Sid has good projection as a corner guy with pop at the next level.

03/09/2014 - National Tryout - Hightstown, NJ Sid has made great strides in his game. This RHH attacks with aggressiveness and takes a hack. He drives to ball to the gaps with pop as he uses the whole field. He will be a run producer with his ability to punish the ball. Defensively, he worked out in the OF for the first time. He takes good routes/angles and works into position behind the fly-ball. He has a clean exchange and delivers accurate throws into his target. This 6'1"/230 lbs athlete will make an impact with the bat and has a bright future in the game.

01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Sid showed for the first time at 1B at the event. At the plate is where he continues to show best through an open / athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball exploding off the bat, displaying outstanding power numbers. At the event, he was 3 for 4 with a 2B. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a big quality receiver, displaying clean hands. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases foot quickness and attack balls more with his feet. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Sid is a catcher with a big/athletic build and an ability to hit and hit for power. With the stick, he generates fast bat speed, has fluid rhythm and a gap-to-gap approach. When he begins to use his lower half, balls will start to jump off the bat even greater. Defensively, he is strong and durable behind the plate. He presents a good target and flashed pop-times as low as 2.17 seconds. In all, Sid is a great kid that works very hard and has potential to play at the next level either as a C, or a 1B with his ability to hit.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
