07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Silas continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the dish, feet are active as he works in line and gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.05 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a solid setup and presents a low target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process and is a wall behind the plate. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 4 with a 3B and 4 BB as he displays a solid eye. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a solid team player.

03/24/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Oklahoma City, OK Silas is a solid, 2-way player with a good skill set at both positions. Behind the plate, Silas has quick/active feet, a low/square set-up, and he presents a firm glove well. He sticks the ball, tries to keep it in front when blocking, and has a quick/clean exchange with accuracy and carry to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.06 seconds. At SS, Silas has active feet, soft hands, and he centers the ball well. He plays through properly, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a quick/accurate arm to his target. Offensively, Silas has a tall/open stance, a short stride, and good balance. He swings aggressively, has fast bat speed, and he makes hard/square contact. Overall skills can get even better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
