09/19/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Bernardino, CA Simon is a C prospect who will graduate in 2022. Tall frame, with high waist, and present strength to the build and plenty of remaining room to fill out. Primary C, has active/efficient feet and an easy sit. Ability to gain ground with good direction to second base. Presents a low target, with a loud mitt, and has a firm wrist. A quick/clean transfer into a high 3/4 arm slot with good carry on his throws. Recorded an arm velocity up to 84mph and a best pop time of 2.02 seconds. Create good blocking angles and covers the 5-hole. At the plate, sets up with a tall and open stance. A flat barrel path with quickness to hands and a late bat whip. Hit hard line drives into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 93mph during BP. With another year of development, we foresee him having opportunities to play at the next level.

05/19/2019 - National Tryout - Redlands, CA Simon is a C/OF prospect who will graduate in 2022. Behind the plate, Simon shows active footwork and centers the ball in the middle of his body when blocking. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He gets rid of the ball quickly and keeps his throws consistently on-line to his target. In the OF, Simon shows efficient footwork and attacks the ball aggressively. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with a firm glove. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a short swing with decent bat speed, leading to consistent contact to all fields. Overall, Simon is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
