Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

08/18/2019 - College PREP - St. Augustine , FL Skipper is a solid, athletic RHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he utilizes his feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick and work to and through a short / direct / level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 79 mph. Breaking ball sits from 61-63 mph with 12/6 shape with downward break. Changeup sits from 72-74 mph. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 2 years to further develop, Skipper has a lot of potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
