Official Scouting Report

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Skyler is a two way SS in the 2020 class. Defensively, he does a great job taking the proper angles to ground balls, fields in front and has a smooth transition to nice firm and accurate throws across the diamond. Offensively he uses those smooth clean hands to get directly to the ball with a good path, he has a line drive approach and can spray the ball to all fields. On the mound, he keeps his delivery simple and utilizes a nice 3 pitch mix. Commands his Fastball (76-78mph) well and showed the ability to get hitters out when attacking the inside of the zone. Mixes in a Curveball (62-64mph) and Changeup (66-67mph) to keep hitters off balance.

10/04/2017 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Skyler is a talented 2-way (2B/RHP) prospect who showed well during his time in Arizona. He is a coachable player who takes instruction well. Defensively, this middle infielder can pick it. He has active prep, work around the ball from right to left and stays low/athletic through fielding the ball. He reads the hops and funnels smoothly. Lateral range is a plus as he can make the tough plays to his right and left with ease. At the plate, this RHH has an athletic setup with good balance. He gets his hands loaded, fires the barrel to and through the zone and swings against a firm front side, engaging his lower 1/2. Hands are quick as he is short & direct to the ball, hitting line-drives. Continuing to create extension through contact will help to tap into more power potential. On the bump, Skyler throws strikes and competes. FB now tops out at 79 mph as he fills up the zone with strikes. Changeup has some sinking action as he works to keep it down in the zone. Continuing on a long toss program will aid in developing more arm strength. Only a 2020 grad, Skyler has the tools that will make an impact on the diamond.

08/20/2017 - College PREP - Dickinson, ND Skyler is a talented SS/RHP prospect who has a well-rounded skill set and graduates in 2020. In the field, Skyler plays with effective footwork and a smooth approach. He fields the ball in a square position with a firm glove. He gets good reads and shows a smooth backhand. Skyler is working to play through the baseball and shows good arm strength across the diamond. Offensively, Skyler has a tall setup with his weight in the back of his stance. He engages his lower half getting good rotation with his hips. His hands are direct to the ball as he gets good extension at contact. Skyler can drive the ball to the opposite field and spray it to all fields. On the mound, Skyler has a balanced delivery throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a loose arm action and extends through his release. Skyler has a controlled landing and gets good hip rotation. He effectively use his front side with a good glove tuck. He commands fastball while also featuring a curveball and changeup. Overall, Skyler is a versatile prospect who has talent on both sides of the ball giving him a bright future on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
