Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/3BPosition Projection

07/22/2014 - College PREP - Washington DC, MD Abraham improved both offensively and defensively during his last workout in DC. Hitting and power are both 50 tool grades, showing good bat speed, activated hands, and good barrel accuracy. Spencer has a balanced set-up, a good eye for the zone, and solid pop in his stick. In the INF, Abraham is a solid defender with quick feet, soft / sure hands, and he fields the ball out front. He moves with good agility to the ball, plays through, and has carry and accuracy to his target.

05/18/2014 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Spencer continues to show as a corner infielder with the makings of a solid player at the next level. Hands and feet work well together through the fielding process as he displays smooth / clean actions. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag, is a quality receiver, and consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup with quick hands that work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered.

06/22/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Spencer is a 1B/OF who has a tall and big build. At 1B, he shows good bag awareness and active footwork with the ability to move right and left well. He works from the ground up and keeps his hands down, out in front. In the OF, he shows good pre-pitch movements working to get himself into a solid fielding position. A long toss program will help him to develop more arm strength and improve his defensive abilities in the OF. At the plate, this tall righty keeps his weight back and head down, tracking the ball into the zone. He put pressure on the defense and put the ball in play consistently. Power potential is there with increased drive from his lower 1/2. As a rising junior, Abraham has time and will only continue to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
