07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1
Spencer pitched and plays 1B during his time at Pirate City. On the mound, Spencer works in good tempo, he keeps his shoulders level, and he works to his balance point well. He has on-time separation, lands in a square position, and he competes in the zone with his pitches. At 1st base, Spencer moves well around the bag, he has athletic movements, and his feet are active. He has sure hands, and delivers the ball with life and carry to his target. Offensively, Spencer has an open stance, average bat speed, and he gets his lower body through.
03/10/2013 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN
Spencer is a tall, lanky RHP that will graduate in 2014. Delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate through a high 3/4 arm slot. Arm strength is solid as he topped out at 83 mph. Fastball shows a range of 79-83 mph on a slight downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with slight, early break. He throws a slider that resembles his breaking ball but is slightly harder with more gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program.
