04/18/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Highland Park (DFW), TX Spencer is an athletic LHH MIF that shows as a top prospect on the diamond. A leadoff type, hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. Defensively, he takes a quick first step (7.06 60 time) and has plus lateral range. He creates angles around the GB with fluid actions. DP turns are quick with zip (86 mph velocity) on his throws. Defensive abilities are solid as he shows big play potential. Spencer has a ton of upside and possesses the skill-set that will play at the next level.

11/20/2020 - Texas Regional Offensive Skills Weekend Spencer is a SS prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Texas Regional Skills Weekend. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a centered stride. He shows fluid rhythm and hits against a strong front side. He gets good extension through the ball with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and pull side pop. Activating his hands more in his load can help Spencer generate more consistent contact. Overall, Spencer is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/01/2020 - All-In Membership - Frisco (DFW), TX Spencer is an athletic SS prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At SS, Spencer shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is quick and he works to make accurate throws to his target. Long tossing can help Spencer build up his arm strength. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance with center balance. He stays inside the ball well and gets good extension through the zone, producing solid contact. Spencer can barrel up more baseballs by working a smoother load into his swing. Overall, Spencer is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

07/31/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Spencer is an athletic SS who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft/sure and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate across the diamond with zip (81 mph velocity) but he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an aggressive swing path. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 3 years to further develop, Spencer has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
