05/12/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - San Antonio, TX Staton is a strong C/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, Staton shows active footwork and centers the ball when blocking. He sits in a square stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth getting into his load and hits agains a strong front side. He gets good extension through the ball with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and solid pop. On the mound, Staton gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a free arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Staton shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 84mph with good arm side run. Curveball sits from 66-68mph. Slider sits from 68-70mph. Overall, Staton is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
