09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Steele continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking balls down. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with on line zip (91 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing driving the ball to the deepest part of the park. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 80-83 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters, throwing strikes with all his pitches.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Steele is an athletic and talented 2021 OF prospect. In the OF, Steele presents a low early glove and he plays through the ball. He works behind fly balls and he has a clean exchange. At the plate, Steele is aggressive on fastballs and he looks to drive the ball to the pull side. He starts in a squared stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and he hits off a firm front side. Steele is a competitor and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/17/2019 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Steele is a coachable OF/RHP prospect who showed well during the Under Armour Southwest Championships. In the field, Steele shows efficient footwork and works behind the ball well. He gets into an athletic position and fields with a relaxed glove. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a closed stance and takes a square stride. He gets his hands activated and drives through well with his lower half. He produces fast bat speed through the zone, leading to great raw pop. On the mound, Steele gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a quick arm and accelerates through his release, flashing an athletic finish. Steele shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 85mph. Breaking ball sits from 64-67mph with sharp 11-5 break. Overall, Steele is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

03/03/2019 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Steele is an athletic OF/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2021. In the field, Steele shows quick footwork and attacks the ball aggressively. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a quick exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a short swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid contact and line drives into the gaps. On the mound, Steele gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and finishes with a controlled landing. Steele shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 64-66mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 65mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Steele is a talented prospect who should find success in this, his sophomore season.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
